Merry Christmas

We are wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and hope you all enjoy a relaxing holiday season!

The float is being sketched up with the artists with details right now. We are hoping to have it finalized in January with a color scheme so we can start building in February! We have found a place to store the float that will work, it will be a little tight so we would still like to keep looking. Let us know of any leads you may have.

See you all in the new year!

Questions to provoke ideas

Here are some questions to ask when trying to create a theme:

What types of pioneers live in daybreak stake today?

What lessons can we teach at a glance?

What is a unique way to think about pioneers?

What is something NEVER seen on a float before?

What is a quote that catches the attention and makes people try harder?

i.e. Pres Harold B. Lee " Be Loyal to the Royal that is IN YOU! YOU are the child of a KING!"

Our goal:
Build a float that addresses the five key elements the judges will watch for as they consider our float for an award:

· Theme: How well does the float depict the parade theme?

· Aesthetics: How well does the float incorporate artistry, color and visual appeal?

· Originality: Is there a clever application or interpretation of the theme?

· Craftsmanship: Does the float have quality construction and completed finishes?

· Special Effects: How effective is the use of animation, unique props, sound and/or people?

Creative Minds

Our stake has been asked to participate in the Days of '47 Parade in 2012.

To begin the process of a float, we need to start with the design concept. What is going to be our theme? What is it going to look like? What is it that we want people to know about us?

The overall theme of the parade is 'pioneers' but really any idea or theme could work into that.
They have asked us NOT to do handcarts, bees, beehives etc. (OVERUSED!)
So...this is where we need the help of the members of the stake. We need individuals and families to get their creative juices flowing and come up with some design concepts for our committee. The sky is the limit, all ideas are welcome!

Please email your pictures to daybreakfloat@gmail.com

Thanks for participating and helping our stake out!
