We're almost done

We are making MAJOR progress - in fact, this morning the float looks almost done.  This picture was taken Thursday night.  Thank you to all the volunteers who have taken time to come out and help build the float.  We couldn't have done it without you!

A sneak peek at the gears.

Flash Mob Dance - videos

OK, so keep this a secret from the other parade participants, but we are doing flash mobs throughout the parade route.  We are encouraging as many people as possible to GO DOWNTOWN and place yourselves with groups of other Daybreakers.  Those that will actually be walking with the float will be doing a dance, and we want those in the crowd to DO THE SAME DANCE when it passes by!  Below are videos so you can learn it.

First we have the dance from the front, with choreography and music.

This is the dance broken down, from the dancer's perspective to make it easier.

Finally, we have it from the dancer's perspective, with music.  This is very short and easy, but it will blow people away!  Start organizing NOW with friends and neighbors to go downtown on July 24th!!!

Costumes

We have amazing costumes being made for the people and kids in the parade.  Our costume designers are Lisa and Eric Oliphant and we've recruited about 15 seamstresses in the stake to help sew the costumes.  The style of the costumes is from the Industrial Revolution, Victorian eras, it's a counter culture called Steampunk and it's really popular right now!

On Saturday May 19th we are having a "super Saturday" to assemble the accessories for the costumes and would all the help we can get!  We'll be at the Temple Point Chapel from 9am - 2 pm.

Flash Mob Practices

As some of you may know we are planning to do a few flash mob groups along the parade route on the 24th of July.  Cool eh?!

We are starting practices on Thursday May 17th at 7pm at the Temple Point Chapel.

Please bring your friends, brothers, sisters, neighbors, parents etc.

Practice Dates:  (All Thursdays)

May 17th - 7pm
May31st - 7pm
June 14th - 7pm
June 28th - 7pm
July 12th - 7pm
July 19th - 7pm

We will also be posting a video so if you can't make it or need to practice on your own, you can see the moves here.

You will also need to have some costume element on like a hat, messenger bag, parasol etc.  Or you can also be in full costume!  I will be posting pictures so you know what to wear.

Warehouse Times and Address

We are down to the wire on the float.  We must have it completed by May30th because the float chair people are leaving town until June 10th and on June 16th we are entering the float into the South Jordan Country Fest parade for a "test run".

Wednesday's 6pm-10pm at Melanie Kirkland's 4142 Open Crest Dr. (doing gears)
Thursday's 6pm-10pm at the warehouse
Saturday's 6am-Noon at the warehouse

We are ready to paint, glitter, staple floral sheeting etc.....all the fun stuff!  Please come and experience how amazing this float is going to be!
